"Contains a preface by Thomas Foxcroft and a biography of Byfield" [Jenkins], who "was the first Judge under our present Charter; and never Once had a Decree revers'd upon an Appeal Home." This is, according to Sabin, Chauncy's third published work in a long career noteworthy for its insistence upon the democratic character of American religious institutions against English establishmentarian claims.
