The pamphlet includes Robert Fulton's report to Gouverneur Morris on "The Advantages of the Proposed Canal From Lake Erie to Hudson's River." Writing from New York in February 1814, Fulton makes a strong case for the Canal on grounds of "cheapness," safety, and efficiency. The Commissioners included Morris, Fulton, De Witt Clinton, S.
