Fraser, Rev. A.G.:

FACTS NOT FICTION. JUSTICE, THOUGH SLOW, IS SURE. A.G. PHELPS, SR., VS. FRASER.

[New York: 1850] Contemporary plain wrappers, stitched, 7pp + [1 blank]. Light wear, Good+ to Very Good. Fraser vindicates his reputation "from an unprovoked and wicked attack upon his private character;" and demonstrates that, "after tracing the false rumors to their true source," i.e., Rev. Anson G. Phelps, he "obtained, as the following correspondence shows an unqualified retraction and apology." Fraser says he has been the victim of "a systematic and deep-laid scheme of villanies to filch him first out of his property, and then in his poverty, try to crush his reputation." Fraser sicced Attorney C.P. Schermerhorn on Phelps, who retracted any suggestion that Fraser was "a swindler" who had obtained money under false pretenses from persons in New York and England. FIRST EDITION. Not in Sabin, Eberstadt, Decker, BEAL, NUC.
