State Rights and Free Trade Association:

ADDRESS TO THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH-CAROLINA, ON THE PRESENT CRISIS.

A.E. Miller, Charleston: 1834 20pp. Stitched into modern marbled wrappers. First two leaves and last leaf spotted, with some wear to the last leaf obscuring a few letters. Good or so. The scarce Political Tract No. 16 of this Association, formed to advance South Carolina's interests in the Nullification Crisis with Andrew Jackson over the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832. This Tract supports the Oath of Allegiance to the State contained in the proposed amendment to the State's Constitution. Such an oath is, the Association argues, no different from that required in most other States and, in any event, merely expresses the duty of all citizens. FIRST EDITION. AI 26921 [2]. II Turnbull 330. OCLC 15331350 [7]. Not in LCP.
