Stewart, A.M.:

CHURCH COMMUNION, OR NON-FELLOWSHIP WITH SIN. A SERMON PREACHED IN THE REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, SABBATH AFTERNOON, AUGUST 24, 1851.

Whitmarsh & Fulton, Chicago: 1851 18pp. Disbound without wrappers, light dusting, else Very Good. This uncompromising sermon advocates separating from Reformed Presbyterian slaveholders, and justifies such separation as required by Church doctrine. "In remaining, the individual incurs the guilt of the sin tolerated, though he may not have personally done it." It is "unprincipled, self-contradictory, and unscriptural" to worship with persons of fundamentally different convictions. "Africa is stretching out her hands for assistance." Byrd located a copy of this pamphlet only at the Huntington Library only; Ante-Fire Imprints added one at the Dicke Collection; OCLC also notes the University of Illinois at Chicago. FIRST EDITION. Byrd 1780 [1]. Ante-Fire Imprints 24 [2]. OCLC 80370526 [2- Huntington, U IL] [as of 1/12].
