He discusses the beginnings of town life in New Philadelphia, business activity and retailers, lawyers, judges, churches, the woolen factory, hotels and transportation. He provides the 1848 list of voters and brief biographies of notable settlers. An Appendix to his description of Tuscarawas County lists some of the taxpayers in 1809. FIRST EDITION.
