[Wolfe, Udolpho]:

ELUCIDATIONS OF IMPOSITION IN THE IMITATION AND ADULTERATION OF HOLLAND AND ENGLISH GIN.

John A. Gray, New York: 1857 16pp. Disbound and lightly tanned, Very Good. A dealer in liquors, Wolfe seeks to expose the charlatans who adulterate their products and give his trade a bad name. He knows his subject, as he "has been an importer of Wines, Brandies, and other foreign liquors, for more than twenty-five years, in the city of New-York. He warns that the fine Holland Gin has been "almost universally adulterated, by cheap distillations and destructive drugs." He explains the fraud in detail, and notes the superiority of his stock.
