New Hampshire:

GENERAL ADDRESS TO THE FREEMEN OF NEW HAMPSHIRE; OR, THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE LEADERS OF THE NEW-ENGLAND OPPOSITION CONTRASTED.

[np: nd (1816)] 35, [1 blank] pp. Caption title [as issued]. Bound in later quarter morocco and marbled cloth, gilt-lettered spine. Very Good, with scattered foxing. Signed 'Levi Bartlett' above the caption title on the first text page. A scarce Madisonian call for New Hampshire Federalists to renounce their Party, irrevocably discredited by the disloyalty of the Hartford Convention, and join with the rest of the Nation in supporting the Democratic Republicans. Despite War's evils, it is "an ordeal that tries the attachments of men to their government and their country. It proves who are for us, and who are against us. It sets a mark upon names and professions which will determine their currency and value." The New England Federalists have brought the nation "to the brink of ruin" and are "guilty of conduct in the highest degree reprehensible." This pamphlet justifies in detail the policies of the National Administration; and urges Federalists to "COME OVER TO THE REPUBLICANS IN A BODY" and support William Plumer for Governor [himself a former Federalist]. FIRST EDITION. Sabin 26865. AI 37689 [1].
