Burr, Aaron:

IN SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES. AUGUST 5, 1842. MR. WOODBRIDGE SUBMITTED THE FOLLOWING REPORT: THE COMMITTEE OF CLAIMS, TO WHOM WAS REFERRED THE MEMORIAL OF MARGARET BLENNERHASSET, ASK LEAVE RESPECTFULLY TO REPORT... 27TH CONG., 2D SESS., SD394.

1842 15pp, disbound, light foxing and toning. Good+. Upon her late husband, Harman Blennerhasset, "various circumstances combined, many years ago, to fix the suspicion of being an accomplice of Aaron Burr in the illicit designs imputed to him in 1806-'7, against the peace and integrity of the Union." Motivated by Jefferson's 1806 proclamation, reproduced here, armed forces and local citizenry, "in the very excess of an honest zeal," trashed the Blennerhasset home. Mrs. Blennerhasset seeks indemnity from the U.S., and provides eye-witness accounts. The Committee reports favorably. FIRST EDITION. Tompkins 82.
