Dwight became President of Yale in the next year, and was "the dominant figure in the established order of Connecticut." DAB, which cites this item as one which sets forth "his religious, social, and political views." Dwight says the object of his book is to demonstrate "that the several books in the New Testament...were written by the persons, whose names they bear;" that they "were neither deceived, nor deceivers;" and "that their writings have descended, without any material alterations, to the present time."
