1855. [Caption title, page (3)] [Philadelphia? 1855?]. 31, [1 blank] pp. Caption titles [as issued]. Disbound without wraps, else Very Good. Reed explains "some of the causes for placing the house of Reed, Brothers & Co. in a state of liquidation." He has decided "to draw aside the curtain and reveal matters leading to the closing of the house, exhibiting a state of things crippling and destructive to the vitality of a large mercantile house without its parallel." He places the blame on Henry H. Reed, his partner and a "desperate man," whose "unyielding stubbornness" and "malicious" conduct destroyed the House of Reed. The details present an interesting picture of a mercantile house in trouble in the mid-1850's. FIRST EDITION. Not in Sabin, Eberstadt, Decker. Not located on OCLC or in NUC. Item #19315
