A sermon illuminating the missionary impulse. The "families of rejected Israel" are guilty of "obstinate unbelief." The followers of "Mahommed...are under the vail of gross imposture." And Pagan families "are covered with the vail of deplorable ignorance." In evident reference to the French Revolution, he condemns those who expect "to be regenerated by a reason without conscience, and a philosophy without religion." Mason urges missions to the Indians and other unbelievers to rectify these conditions. An Appendix provides the Report of the Directors of the Missionary Society, a list of officers, and a balance sheet.
