D'IVERNOIS ON THE DOWNFAL [sic] OF SWITZERLAND.

[Philadelphia? 1798?]. 20pp, stitched, untrimmed, uncut and generously margined. Lightly tanned and spotted, Very Good+.

A rare pamphlet on "the fate of Switzerland," probably printed first in London in 1798. The author laments that "the finest part of Switzerland is now nothing more than a province of France. This power has taken from the inhabitants, their magistrates their laws and property, and not content with depriving them of their arms, it has destroyed even those monuments which brought to their recollection the glorious purposes to which their ancestors devoted them."
