PATRIOTIC SILK RIBBON.
Paterson, N.J. The Paterson Ribbon Co. [Late, 1800s?]. Woven in red, white and blue silk, blue tassel at bottom. Measuring 3" x 9" from top of ribbon to tassel's end. At head of ribbon is a bald eagle sitting atop two American flags, at center is picture of steamboat. Beneath steamboat are printed these words of Oliver Wendell Holmes: "One Flag, One Land, One Heart, One Hand, One Nation Evermore!" Three tricolor stars beneath quote. Very attractive, Near Fine. The quotation is from Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.'s 'Voyage of the Good Ship Union,' written in 1862. The Paterson Ribbon Company thrived in the late 19th century, when Paterson was known as the "Silk City." Item #22913
