Gum label at spine base. 931pp. Front pastedown with the bookplate of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, and rubberstamp on blank portion of title page. Text clean. Six full-page steel engravings, including the frontis of John Breckinridge. The list of engravings calls for one of General Buckner, but it was not bound into this copy. Else Very Good.

First edition of the history of the famed Orphan Brigade, which saw action in many of the major battles of the War, including Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, Missionary Ridge, and Chickamauga.
