ADDRESS OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE TO THE FREEMEN OF NEW-HAMPSHIRE.

[Concord, N.H. Patriot Office, 1838]. Folio, 12" x 17". 8pp, untrimmed, partly uncut, folded. Caption title [as issued], printed in three columns. Light tanning, mild wear, Very Good. The last page has a large illustration of the Screaming Eagle, with a statement of "The Democratic Creed." Very Good.

A rare folio Address, supporting Jackson-Van Buren banking policies, and expressing the toleration for slavery that cemented Northern Democrats' alliance with Southern slaveholders. Democrats' denunciation of "aristocracy" reaches new levels of hyperbole: they compare abolitionists, protectionists, and supporters of a National Bank to the early, loathsome Federalists.
