SPEECH OF HON. T.R. WESTBROOK, DELIVERED AT A DEMOCRATIC MASS MEETING, HELD AT CLAVERACK, COLUMBIA CO., ON THE 22ND DAY OF OCT., 1853.

[Claverack, NY: 1853]. 10pp. Caption title [as issued], stitched. Institutional rubberstamp in blank margin of title and last page. Light spotting, Good+

Westbrook laments that some "Fellow democrats of the county of Columbia" reject the Democratic platform supporting slavery and the Compromise measures, and refuse to join resolutions of support for Democratic president Franklin Pierce. Reflecting the growing split in that Party over the slavery issue, New York Democrats had put forth two platforms and tickets, each arrayed in opposition to the other. In this rare pamphlet, Westbrook argues angrily that Party regularity should prevail.
