Original cloth [boards detached but present, rubbed, edgeworn], paper label on front board, gilt lettered spine label [vertical split at head of spine, spine ends chipped, old institutional label at foot of spine]. Maps intact and clean, though their blank versos are dusted. Light scattered foxing, occasional institutional rubberstamps. Two small paper labels on front pastedown, one institutional and one from binder, 'Bound by Stephen Amer & Son, Ivy Street, Birkenhead.' Good+.

The Maps show 'the Route by Road & Navigation for Connecting the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans'; a 'Profile of Route by the Grand Portage and Pigeon River from Lake Superior to Rainy Lake'; and a 'Plan Shewing the Region Explored by S.J. Dawson and his Party Between Fort William, Lake Superior and the Great Saskatchewan River, from 1st of August 1857, to 1st November 1858.'
