AN ABSTRACT OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CORPORATION, FOR THE RELIEF OF THE WIDOWS AND CHILDREN OF CLERGYMEN, IN THE COMMUNION OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND IN AMERICA.

Philadelphia: James Humphreys Junior, 1773. 52pp. A rather ugly disbound pamphlet, complete as issued, and scarce. Title page dusted, spotted, with several chips not affecting text, and an institutional rubberstamp. 52pp, small hole at second leaf does not injure text. Some significant spotting of about half the leaves. Good.

The earlier of only two publications by this Society, an adjunct of the Protestant Episcopal Church. The Society began in 1767 as a response to the hardships visited upon families of "missionaries in the service of the society for the propagation of the gospel in foreign parts" who "have too frequently been obliged to leave their families." Its history, laws, summaries of meetings, and benefactors are printed here. William Smith, Thomas Bradbury Chandler, and Jonathan Odell were its leaders.
