LETTERS OF GALLOWRAKE: BEING A SERIES OF COMMUNICATIONS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN THE OHIO STAR.

Ravenna: Office of the Ohio Star, 1834. 48pp, disbound, lightly to moderately foxed. Top margin trimmed closely but not into text [one page number shaved]. Good+.

A scarce pamphlet, consisting of a series of letters on the urgent need for Moral Reform. New emigrants to the West are "intoxicated with [the] erroneous notion...that they are to be forever free. Frenzied with these childish notions of liberty, their independence is soon merged in licentiousness." Morgan says that "Alvan Nash was the Presbyterian minister in Ravenna at this time, and may have been 'Gallowrake.' "
