This is a rare printing of Burke's essays. OCLC, the only consulted source recording it, locates a single copy. The Washington imprint is far more common.
Burke was a New Hampshire Democratic lawyer who served as President Polk's Commissioner of Patents. In these essays he defends Polk's 1846 'Tariff of Abominations,' called thus by its detractors, and the integrity of the Democratic Party.
