SARA RUSSELL SHARPLEIGH, SOMERSWORTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE, DATED AUGUST 4 [2pp] & 15 [12pp], 1904, OCTOBER 29, 1904 [10pp]. 8" x 10.5". Written in brown ink on the printed letterhead of Theodore S. Harris. Old folds, else quite crisp and clean. Very Good.

[offered with] SEVERAL TYPED COPIES OF LETTERS, AND TYPED PAGES OF NOTES DATED 1894-1898, INCLUDING ONE LETTER ADDRESSED TO CHARLES H. WISE, 85 WATER STREET, [1904 AT 38 KELLY ST.], AND SIGNED IN TYPE "T.S.H." AND SEVERAL ADDRESSED TO MR. THEODORE HARRIS, BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS AND SIGNED BY LEWIS A. AREY. 8" x 11". [17] pp, typed on contemporary onion skin style paper. Old folds, else crisp and clean. Very Good.

[offered with] DESCRIPTION OF THE POLLY. BUILT ON THE BANKS OF THE POWOW IN 1804 - THE HONORED GUEST OF AMESBURY DURING OLD HOME WEEK, 1904. 6" x 9.5". [4] pp. Caption-title [as issued], printed in double columns. Photographic illustration of "The Polly" below the title. Includes poem by Samuel Hoyt entitled, "To 'Polly,'" and one entitled, "Polly of the Po. Written for the Amesbury Daily News by J.T.C." The remainder f the pamphlet is dedicated to the boat's history. Lightly age toned, old folds. A few very light spots on the first page, else clean. Very Good.

The material is the fruit of Mr. Harris' research into the Sloop Polly, including his father's service on the Polly, related war injury, and other historical background and factual tidbits about the schooner. Item #27029
