Daniel Bandmann [1840-1905], a renowned tragedian of the American stage, was born in Germany and was able to act in both the German and English languages. He came to the United States around 1858, performing throughout North America. While married to his second wife, he began a relationship with "the talented young actress" Louise Beaudet in the late 1870's. Their romantic and business partnership lasted about ten years; then Beaudet sued for ownership of his ranch, claiming that Bandmann has used her share of the profits in their theatrical business to fund half of the ranch. Bandmann retained his ranch and lived out the rest of his life there, after taking a third wife while not yet divorced from the second. Item #27468
