The Automatic Boiler Coal Oil Feeder removes scale in boilers and prevents further scale formation. This brochure begins with a reprinting of "Use of Coal Oil in Steam Boilers" by W.A. Doble, Mem. Tech. Soc. James Richardson, born in 1836 in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1847, is listed in the 1870 and 1880 Federal censuses as living in San Francisco and working as a gas fitter; the 1890 census lists him as a plumber.This is very likely the J. Richardson who wrote this pamphlet. Richardson is listed in the 1889 San Francisco Directory as living at 620 Seventeenth Street. Item #28495
