The Sierra Leone Company was established in 1791by an impressive array of abolitionists-- including Granville Sharp and William Wilberforce-- to establish a colony on the west coast of Africa for runaway slaves who had found asylum in London. The Company's Reports are all difficult to obtain. This one recounts the circumstances which led to the formation of the Colony and the horrors of the slave trade, as well as descriptions of the Company's activities.
