The only 18th century American printing of this scholarly analysis of the Lord's Prayer, and its attempt "to recover Truth Divine out of its Embarassments, and to communicate it in its original Lustre and its native Incorruption and Integrity." Mather dedicates it to the "pious and learned Overseers, Rulers and Instructors of Harvard-Academy at Cambridge, New-England."
