AMERICA INVOKED TO PRAISE THE LORD. A DISCOURSE DELIVERED ON THE DAY OF PUBLIC THANKSGIVING THROUGH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FEBRUARY 19, 1795. BY...PASTOR OF THE FIRST CHURCH IN DANVERS.

Salem: Thomas C. Cushing, 1795. Stitched, untrimmed, moderate spotting. 30pp, lacking the half title and last leaf.

"Excellent treatise on the principles of liberty and on the new Constitution, with remarks on the Revolution" [Jenkins]. Wadsworth says, "Liberty is the birthright and common cause of mankind. It is not the exclusive privilege of a single nation, or country; but the precious gift of the great Parent of all, to man. By nature, all are equally free." Recollecting "the first settlement of this country by our venerable ancestors," he finds the progress of American history to be the cause of great thanks. "What were the infant colonies in opposition to a warlike nation, who had long made the world tremble?"
