Phillips's children founded Phillips Andover Academy. His Preface enumerates several books about which Phillips chooses "to advertise and warn you." These "exhibit a formal, explicit Denial, or Renunciation of One, if not more, of the Principal, or Fundamental Doctrines of our holy Religion." They include the works of Dr. Taylor, who "explodes the Doctrine of Original Sin." Also, "A Winter-Evening's Conversation" and "A New Catechism."
