"Having gone little more than half a mile, from circumstances, it appears, that he was thrown from his horse; and being unable to help himself, he lay upon the ground through the night, which was cold and stormy. Early in the morning, he walked home; and appeared to be quite indisposed. But, not being able to speak, he could give not account of what had happened to him." He had struck his head on a rock; despite "the best surgical assistance" he died, "a promising youth, and flattering were the prospects of life before him."
