Armstrong County is about fifty miles northeast of Pittsburgh. A lawyer and a future governor of Pennsylvania, Johnston explains in this rare pamphlet his opposition to the "untried experiment of the Sub-treasury," which, if enacted, will clothe "the general government with power which will enable it to crush the state sovereignties and state banks."
