The pamphlet prints detailed information, garnered "from personal interviews with farmers at their homes," about "homes in Western Nebraska, the facilities for obtaining them, the manner of profits grain growing and stock raising, the value of our great native meadows for stock breeding and dairying, the growth of forests and orchards, the facilities of markets, and other matters of interest to those seeking homes in the west."
The author focuses on "the Platte Valley, along the line of the Union Pacific Railway, and for twenty miles each side." In addition to this one, Eberstadt offered an 1883 printing.
