The first edition issued from London in 1803. This is an early American edition, and the first published in the American South. Buchan offers his counsel to "the tender and rational mother, pointing out to her the certain means of preserving her own health, of securing the attachment of the man she holds dear, and of promoting the health, strength, and beauty of her offspring."
