The broadside urges defeat of the ballot measure authorizing issuance of liquor licenses. Four vignettes illustrate the spectrum of evils caused by the liquor trade: "New York state rum taxes. -- The town meeting. -- The New York farmer groaning under his rum tax. Who will vote license? -- The ballot muster for the 19th of May. -- The drunkard's home. -- Song of the revellers. Old song. Go get your license. -- County rum taxes. -- The liquor dealer shown his victim."
