The Meeting, called to honor the memory of fellow attorney Jacob Hunter, elected a committee to create an appropriate memorial. It was "Resolved, that in the death of our brother the Bar has lost a lawyer of fair abilities, and a man pre-eminently distinguished for every social virtue. Resolved, that in testimony of the respect we entertain for the deceased, we will wear crape in the left arm for thirty days."
Augustus Moore [1803-1851] "was a prominent legal figure in the area, graduating from the University of North Carolina in 1824 and receiving his license to practice law the following year.
