This is the first American edition, originally published in 1698 in London as "A Short and Easie Method with the Deists." The caption title, printed after the Preface, is "A
Short and Easie Method with the Deists".A seven-page essay, "The Epistle of St. Ignatius to the Trallians," is printed at the end, with a short Errata note.
Leslie, to whom Evans attributes authorship, was, according to Wikipedia, "a former Church of Ireland priest who became a leading Jacobite propagandist after the 1688 Glorious Revolution. One of a small number of Irish Protestants to actively support the Stuarts after 1688, he is best remembered today for his role in publicising the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe." He refused to take an oath to William and Mary after 1688.
