A SKETCH OF OUR POLITICAL CONDITION. ADDRESSED TO THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES, WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF PARTY. BY A CITIZEN OF NEW - YORK.
New York: Printed for the Author, and for Sale at the Principal Bookstores. C. S. Van Winkle, Printer, 1813. 47, [1 blank] pp. Disbound, lightly toned. Good plus. Gift inscription.
The author of 'The Night Before Christmas' was no stranger to the divisive political issues of the day. His first pamphlet, published anonymously, was an 1804 Federalist attack on Thomas Jefferson, titled, "Observations upon Certain Passages in Mr. Jefferson's Notes on Virginia, which Appear to Have a Tendency to Subvert Religion, and Establish a False Philosophy,"
Moore [1779-1863] opposed in this pamphlet "the many prominent inconsistencies and absurdities which appear in the political conduct" of Thomas Jefferson and his successor, James Madison, who is responsible for the reckless declaration of war against England.
