Signature on blank margin of half title of "David Joy." viii, 9 - 96 pp. With the half title, prefatory remarks "To the Reader," and table of Contents listing 48 titles. Clean text. Good plus.
Garrison says the Poems are "simply the unstudied effusions of hours given to relaxation from the arduous labors arising from his connexion with the Anti-Slavery Enterprise." His lifelong passion for justice informs most of the poems listed here. The first, entitled "Universal Emancipation," is followed by others similarly themed: "Dedicatory Lines to Liberty," "Song of the Abolitionist," "Hope for the Enslaved," "Liberty and Slavery," "West India Emancipation", "The Kneeling Slave" and others.
