The book begins with the "Roman Catholics, who have "manifested a kind spirit towards their Protestant neighbors." Mennonites, "or Harmless Christians, are a most amiable people." The African Methodist Episcopal Church, originally "colored members of the Methodist Episcopal Church," formed their own church because "it was thought expedient to let them worship alone." Also discussed are Shakers, whose members are "on the decline" with n "excessive decrease." Harmonists, Evangelicals, Swedenborgians, and other sects are treated.
