These Federalists, members of the Massachusetts legislature whose names are signed in type at the end, urge re-election of Governor Caleb Strong. They stress his virtuous character, which was indeed undeniable, and his steadiness at the helm. But Massachusetts, increasingly Republican as the Jefferson Administration continued its second term, turned him out this time in favor of the Jeffersonian Sullivan.
