A DISCOURSE, DELIVERED FEBRUARY 19, 1795. THE DAY SET APART BY THE PRESIDENT FOR A GENERAL THANKSGIVING THROUGH THE UNITED STATES.

Boston: Samuel Hall, 1795. 30pp + final blank, half title. Formerly stitched, now loose, else lightly worn and Very Good. A Federalist approbation of the constitutional state of the Union. Although "the general liberties of the nation might, perhaps, be ultimately endangered...were the general government to swallow up" the states, Osgood argues that "the disorganizing tendency of state jealousy has a threatening aspect upon the general government." This oration was evidently in great demand: Evans notes two other 1795 printings from Boston, and one from Litchfield. FIRST EDITION. Evans 29246. Not in Jenkins. Item #9495
